Top tips for learners starting Nursery
Provide up to date contact details for the nursery staff.
It is important to make sure the contact number you put on the nursery registration paperwork is still correct. If you change your telephone number of address, it’s really important that you let us know. Please make sure, that when your child is attending Nursery your mobile is charged and on, just in case staff need to contact you.
Label EVERYTHING
We have lots of learners with lots of things; it is much easier to keep track of these if they are clearly labelled. Please label all coats, hats, bags, lunchboxes, drinks bottles and any items of clothing your child is likely to remove (jumpers and cardigans
Lunch
You’ll need to send your child with a healthy packed lunch. If they are staying with us all day, you’ll need an afternoon snack too. We will provide a mid-morning snack of fruit or toast and water. (Or Milk.) Please don’t send nuts, strawberries or shellfish to Nursery.
Suitable clothing
We recommend that you don’t send your learner to nursery in their best clothes. We often use paint, glue and dough. Our outdoor learning area is used all year round, so chances are your little learner won’t be as clean as they were when you dropped them off when you pick them up! Just remember, the more stains, the more learning!
What else should you send?
- Nappies and wipes (if your child needs them)
- Spare underwear (accidents happen)
- Spare clothes
- Hats and gloves (if it’s cold)
- Hats and sun cream (if it’s warm)
